since 1986......	A warm welcome to Abinger Stained Glass. My name is Amanda Winfield and I am passionate about glass! I have worked professionally in stained and decorative glass since 1986. I was trained at a prestigious London studio by elder craftsmen, in all the traditional techniques which have changed little since medieval times. In 2001 I set up Abinger Stained Glass and have been exploring new ideas, techniques and finishes to combine with the old to add interest and depth into my work. If you need advice on a new project in stained glass or with a restoration of stained glass, leaded panels or fused glass anywhere in the UK or Europe feel free to call me. Summer 2012 dates now online HERE Kirstie's Homemade Home In 2009 I took part in Episode 2 of the first series of Kirstie's Homemade Home for Channel 4. In the programme Kirstie Allsopp transforms her dilapidated house in Devon and along the way tries her hand at some traditional crafts. In my workshop here in Abinger Hammer, Kirstie designed and made a stained glass panel much like you can make on my one day stained glass course. See that episode here on 4OD - FF to 12:40 min. In 2010 I was thrilled to be asked back to make a window for Gemma and Shaun with the help of Kirstie Allsopp, for the Episode 1 of the second series of Kirstie's Homemade Home. Hampshire View
This panel fits into a hatch in this clients kitchen. For the design I used a picture or two they gave me of a view from their house.

The South Coast
This panel was inspired by the work of both Angie Lewin printmaker and Eric Ravilious both of theses artists are very much admired by my customer.

1920's Peacock Window
This customer has a beautiful washstand in her hall tiled with a wonderful art nouveau peacock feather design. I have used this as inspiration for her front door panel.

What's happening at Abinger Stained Glass? - This Month - February 2012

I'm settling into 2012 now.

This month I have mostly stained glass courses at the weekends with one fusing day.

During the weeks I'm finishing off my music room window and starting on my Tiffany inspired magnolia panels for either side of a front door in Surrey. I've just designed another patchwork panel for a property in London and I'll be creating samples and designs for other work on the go!

I would like to introduce you to, My Workshop ! It has become obvious to me over the years that many of my students would love to carry on at home but just don't have the space. It can also be a bit of a hefty outlay on tools and equipment. This is why I am opening my doors to my students. It will be on an hourly basis and when you like! You might want to create for 2 hours a week or 10 and subject to other students and my workload we should be able to accommodate you. Of course this is a very busy little workshop so there will be a bit of shuffling about but I am positive this will work. I will store your projects for you in between times, you will have full use of a set of tools and if you like you can buy the materials from me for your project. I will be there to help and guide you through any little problems and glitches but in essence the space will be yours for the time booked! All you need to do is turn up and have fun!
