1920's Peacock Window, Bookham
2011
My customer has a beautiful washstand in her
hall. The tiles on this washstand have a wonderful
art nouveau peacock feather design. I have used
this as inspiration for her front door panel.
We think there must have originally been a window
in the front door but it had been removed and
boarded up at some point in the past. We removed
two layers of boarding and replaced it with this
shiny leaded light! And what a difference this
has made to her hall bringing in loads more light.
I have used a combination of pale tinted glasses
with different textures to give life and add interest
to the panel. The peacock feathers eye has been
created using great streaky glass and a bold cobalt
blue swirly glass called Baroque. There is one
single round bar across the centre to give added
strength. Vital in a front door panel!
