Abinger Stained Glass
Quality bespoke stained glass - Creating with glass since 1986
Fused glass
Fused glass is the term used for a range of techniques that happen at temperatures lower than the glowing red furnaces of glass blowers. I use the processes of fusing, slumping and kiln carving to produce a range of plates, tiles and pendants and one off art pieces.

3000 Years
Fused glass has been used to create functional and beautiful objects since ancient Mesopotamia discovered the technigues three thousand years ago.
More about the History of Fused Glass

Exciting
Fused glasswork is a very exciting art form. To see pieces of cut and arranged glass melt and mould together in the kiln is great fun. I use a variety of temperatures and techniques to achieve different results. Square edges or round, bubbles or no bubbles are just 2 examples.

Pushing Boundaries
In kiln work I am always learning and pushing the boundaries. Of course this sometimes leads to a minor disaster in the kiln but what I learn from these is more valuable than if everything always went smoothly. The excitement I feel when I open a cooled kiln is not unlike that feeling of anticipation I felt on my birthday when I was little!
And just like a child in a sweet shop I don’t know which pieces to pick out first.

Inspiration
The inspiration for a lot of my work comes from my surroundings here in the gentle rolling Surrey Hills. The minutiae of leaf and flower forms and the patterns created by nature fascinate me and translate beautifully into glass.
Landscapes, seascapes, poetry and music all inspire me to design and create.
I am constantly sketching new ideas and trying new techniques, combining my tried and tested skills with the newly learnt.
